Most people who maintain a low carbohydrate diet tend to miss out on eating out. Cutting back on carbs usually means that you can’t indulge in hamburgers and French fries. Not all restaurants have jumped on the weight loss bandwagon yet, but many are realizing that they can attract more customers by offering a some low carb items on their menu. You can always bypass the whole restaurant scene by preparing your own low carb fast food at home. This can save you money, while at the same time saving you from the carbs.

“The end result is a low carb fast food burger you can enjoy without feeling guilty.”

One popular appetizer that many people order at restaurants are mozzarella cheese sticks. If you’re on the Atkin’s of South Beach Diet, there are ways to prepare it so that it’s more of low carb fast food. Instead of using breading and deep frying the sticks, you cut a block of mozzarella into strips, roll it in an egg, followed by crushed pork, then bake them in the oven. These tasty little morsels have tons of taste and virtually no carbs.

The old hamburger is a staple of eating out. Although you can always make a burger at home, there’s no bread allowed for low carb dieters so they usually shy away from this American favorite. You can turn this into low carb fast food at home by using Portabella mushrooms as a substitute for the bun. Even though it may not sound all that appetizing, it’s actually incredibly delicious.

For optimum flavor, it’s essential to prepare a marinade for the mushrooms. Using an olive oil base, you can add your own appealing flavors. While grilling the burgers, throw the mushroom caps on too. The end result is a low carb fast food burger you can enjoy without feeling guilty. Don’t be surprised if others in your household want to substitute their plain buns for mushrooms too!

Another hurdle that you have to get over when you’re trying to lose weight is desserts. Ending a meal at a restaurant with a decadent piece of cheesecake is wonderful. You can still indulge in a small serving of this rich dessert at home too, as long as you make it so it fits with your low carb diet menu plan. Just forego the graham cracker crust and use a sugar substitute.

With a little creativity and some imagination you can alter many restaurant favorites so they align with your new, healthier lifestyle. If you do find yourself having to eat out at times, just make wise choices from the low carb fast food options available. Ask the server to keep your dressing on the side of your salad, order a piece of skinless chicken or a steak and just think about how great you’ll look in that bikini in the summer. To get into the shape you want takes a little bit of sacrifice, but is well worth it.

Often, after a hard days work, my husband and I are too tired to go to the theater to watch a movie. It’s times like these that I’m extremely grateful for pay per view television. Naturally, it’s not the same as going to see a movie on the big screen, but the appeal for me is that I can sit in my favorite chair and just relax, knowing that we don’t have to drive home afterwards. A lot of the movies are a bit older too, but I usually don’t get to see all the movies I want to at the theater, so it’s a good way to catch up on all the ones I’ve missed.

“NetFlix is definitely convenient, but still not as fast a pay per view because you still have to wait for the movies to be delivered”Another cool thing about pay per view is that it’s now free to watch some of the movies. I think they call it ‘on demand’, but the concept is still the same as traditional pay per view. All you need to do is find something you want to watch, click on it and it starts. A lot of the movies and programs are on HBO, and there is also free music and children’s shows. You’ll find quite a few of the stations programming this way, as long as you can pick them up. This type of ‘on demand’ viewing is just what I need when I’ve missed a movie or program.

Pay per view channels also play lots of special events, such as sporting events like the WWE wrestling, concerts and awards shows. Often then special events cost a bit more than the movies do though. WWE wrestling specials for example, often cost between 30 and 50 dollars. I’m glad my brother has his own pay per view account now because he is a huge wrestling fan and would always come over to watch the wrestling specials at our place. At 30 dollars a pop, it starts to add up very quickly!

A lot of people predicted that NetFlix’s gain in popularity would be the death of pay per view companies, although, I’m not sure that was the case. NetFlix is definitely convenient, but still not as fast a pay per view because you still have to wait for the movies to be delivered in the mail before you can watch them. Pay per view channels also show things that aren’t available on DVD yet. The movies in the mail services may take a bit of a bite out of pay per view services, but I can’t see them disappearing any time in the immediate future. With digital phone becoming more popular, a lot of customers seem to be returning to the cable companies, and paying to watch movies at home again.

I think I’ll stick to pay per view for the time being. It’s so nice to be able to relax at home in my comfy clothes on the couch and watch a movie when I feel like it.

When you have children, there’s an enormous number of issues you have to think about. It can be mind boggling for a lot of parents, and often we forget to talk to our children about certain issues. One important issue that you should make a priority to talk to them about is teenage pregnancy. Yes, talking about drugs and drinking is very important, but you cannot leave out this important issue. You have to do more than talk about it however, you have to find a way to make it register with your kids.

“It’s a sad day when teenage pregnancy is no longer something that warrants a second thought.”Some of the stigma surrounding teenage pregnancy had already begun to wear off when I was in high school. That saddened me, because no matter how society feels about it, it still wrecks havoc on the lives of teens that are involved. It is a sad day when a teenage pregnancy was no longer something that would warrant a second thought. There are many who still look down on those who get pregnant at such a young age, but it’s no longer the huge social taboo that it once was. I came from a very small school, but there were still at least three girls who became pregnant in my senior year.

Teenage pregnancy is the last thing you want for your child and is still as damaging as it used to be. When a teenager has a baby they negate the chance to have a normal life. They will be parents while still being under the care of their own parents. This means that they will miss out on being young and free, which will show later in their life. Even worse, a teenage pregnancy often means that you will end up having to rearrange your life to help care for your grandchildren just when you were looking forward to living your own life and relaxing.

When you talk to your children about teenage pregnancy, you can’t just tell them to not have sex and leave it at that. You have to make it real for them or they’ll simply think it’s something that will not happen to them. You have to show and explain to them how it affects the lives of people who have to deal with it, and you have to find a strong way to get that message across. There are many resources out there that can help you explain and show your children the effects of teenage pregnancy in a way that drives home the fact that it could happen to them if they’re not careful. It may not save them from this fate, but hopefully it will may make them think twice when engaging in risky behaviors.

I have always loved steak, and I have never been really picky about it until lately. I guess when you only eat average pieces of meat you don’t know what you are missing. Now that I have more money in my life, I tend to find a new steak house to try now and again to see what I like. The problem has become my diet, however, and I have found that I am better off making mine at home. For anyone else though, this is the place to go for an amazing piece of meat.

“these are probably the best steaks you can get. Though I’m not sure they need sugar to be good”I can’t eat at my favorite steak house any longer because I have learned they inject their meat with sugar to make it taste better. I am on a low sugar diet so this is something that I can no longer have. However, it will remain my favorite place, and I hope one day I can eat there again. I have not checked up on other places that I like to eat, but I will have to do a search on each steak house soon enough so I know where I can eat and where I should avoid.

For those who are not watching sugar or carbs however, these are probably the best steaks you can get. Though I’m not sure they need sugar to be good, they certainly beat anything done at home. They have a special way of cooking and seasoning the meat that I have not been able to replicate. I can’t imagine the only steak house secret I am missing is the added sugar. That’s okay though, I plan to keep trying until I have something marvelous that I can make at home.

If you can’t seem to find a good steak house near you, you might be looking in the wrong places. The place does not have to specialize in steak to be a great place to find a fine cut of meat that will melt in your mouth. It is a good rule of thumb to remember that you do get what you pay for whether you are in a steak house or not. Some are better, and the more you pay the better the meat you are going to get when you order. If you aren’t happy, you certainly have the right to return it and find somewhere else to eat. Too many people put up with bad food and bad service. If that were to change, each place would be forced to do better.

In an effort to drop a few pounds, some people are taking a radical approach. This has nothing to do with having part of your stomach stapled shut or putting a band around it so you eat less. Instead this involves cleansing your body from the inside out through the process of detoxification diets. These diets are sometimes difficult to follow but the results can be amazing.

“detoxification diets can prove beneficial are by helping with pain in the joints, sleeping difficulties and skin problems”We all put some effort into ensuring that our exterior looks healthy and well. We go for regular haircuts, many women indulge in plastic surgery to correct imperfections and we are largely very prudent about staying clean. With detoxification diets, it’s much the same, save for the fact that you are taking care of your inside as opposed to your outside.

The premise of these types of diets is that you release all the unwanted toxins from your system. Those toxins are said to contribute negatively to your overall health. Some of the ways that detoxification diets can prove beneficial are by helping with pain in the joints, sleeping difficulties and skin problems. Naturally, weight loss is also a byproduct of following one of the detoxification diets and is often times the impetus behind why people go on them.

Deciding which plan to follow depends on several factors. First and foremost you must be in good general health before you even consider any of the detoxification diets. It’s encouraged that you visit with your physician to discuss his or her thoughts on detoxification diets and how they may prove beneficial to you. The doctor may also be able to suggest which diet is most appropriate for your particular health conditions.

One that is becoming increasingly popular because stars like Beyonce have been vocal about following it is the Master Cleanse diet. This is one of the most recognizable detoxification diets because of Beyonce’s claim that she lost twenty pounds in a period of two weeks while following it. Like all detoxification diets, the Master Cleanse consists of a very limited liquid diet. In this case specially prepared lemonade must be consumed throughout the day.

There is an adjustment whenever a person begins a plan to cleanse their system. It’s very likely that you’ll go through a period of a day or two where you’ll be incredibly irritable. You may also experience headaches, as this is the body’s way of adapting to the lack of sugar in the diet. Once you get over that initial discomfort hump you will probably notice that you feel more mentally alert and less tired. Many people claim that they’ve never felt as good as when they’ve been on one of the many detoxification diets.

The jury still seems to be out on the benefits of natural alternative medicine. Many people swear by it and talk positively about how effective it can be, while others dismiss it as pure quackery in favour of modern medicine. Some argue that modern medicine is no replacement for traditional approaches that have been practiced for thousands of years. Regardless of the arguments for and against, one very effective application of natural medicines seem to be natural remedies for constipation. In my experience I have had more long term success with natural remedies for constipation than over-the-counter and prescription medications.

There are many different natural remedies for constipation. Many of the more basic remedies simply require an adjustment to your diet. A few years back I had a serious case of constipation. It turns out that my college diet of junk food and beer was playing havoc on my system. At first I tried laxative pills which worked short term, relieving me for a while, but usually the next day I would be constipated again and feeling worse than before. A close friend of mine recommended that I talk to my doctor about natural remedies for constipation.

My doctor suggested that I try the BRAT diet. The BRAT diet is one of the leading natural remedies for constipation, the letters BRAT stand for bananas, rice, applesauce and toast. These basic foods will not irritate your stomach and help the digestive system go about its job properly. I have to admit that it did take a few days for the BRAT diet to start to work, the first couple of which were pretty uncomfortable, but in the end after eating healthily the positive effects were long term. The advice from my friend and doctor to try one of the natural remedies for constipation turned out to be very good advice indeed.

This is just one of the natural remedies for constipation. My doctor also recommended some others that would provide a bit more immediate relief, but weren’t as long lasting as the BRAT diet. I decided that I had already put up with weeks of discomfort so a couple more days couldn’t be too bad.

At the end of the day, different treatments work more effectively for different people and there are a lot of factors that need to be considered. If you aren’t having much luck with a modern medicine approach, I encourage you to try one of the many natural remedies for constipation – it may just work.

I was amazed at the variety of get-ups I saw last Halloween when I took my neice out trick-or-treating for a few hours. The kids can’t wait to get dressed up each year which is interesting, but I’m equally as interested in checking out all the fun and unique costumes you see when you’re out and about. This year a real stand out for me was a young lady wearing a cop costume. At first I thought she was the real thing, she had me completely fooled. I guess it comes down to the personality of the person wearing the costume and this lady’s personality really came out through her cop costume. She had everyone nervously obeying her every command. Even when they realised she was just another person dressed up for halloween, everyone still treated her with respect. That’s the sort of response I want to get out of my future costumes!

After talking to her for a while, she told me that it hadn’t all been fun and games. Earlier in the night she walked past the local high school wearing her cop costume and some young punks got smart to her and threw an empty plastic bottle at her. Funnily enough she pretended to radio for back up and then chase after them and they ran off, haha. Talk about gutsy. Or maybe the cop costume gave her some dutch courage.

It re-ignited an old passion of mine from my childhoold. I used to watch the cop show “CHiPs” with my family every week. At the time Ponch and John were the epitome of cool and I remember all the guys at school wanting be cops when they grew up, or at least trying to dress like them in the mean time. I never did find out where to get an authentic looking cop costume, so I asked the lady where she got hers from. It turns out she spent a lot of time browsing through online costume shops looking for a decent costume and ended up finding the perfect one. She did tell me what the website was where she found it, but after heading home I completely forgot!

Anyway, before next halloween I plan on getting a cop costume for myself – you never know, I may end up meeting that lady again and we can pretend we’re partners

There is little out there that has moved as many people as the music of Johnny Cash. From punks to preachers, from country music fans to hipsters, everyone loves Johnny cash music. He is one of those Great American songwriters whose work unites people from all walks of life. When I wear my Johnny Cash T-shirt, I get compliments from almost everyone I meet. He is a true musical genius, and musical geniuses find fans everywhere.

“What no adolescent can appreciate, however, is their parents’ taste in music.”

It took me a long time to realize how great Johnny cash music was. You see, the first person I ever knew who listened to Johnny Cash was my dad. Kids can appreciate their parents’ taste in books, their parents’ taste in people, and their parents’ taste in food. What no adolescent can appreciate, however, is their parents’ taste in music. If my dad liked Johnny cash music, it was obvious that Johnny cash music was square.

That all changed when I met my first girlfriend. She was a bit of a country girl, to tell you the truth. She liked all the old country stars, including Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Merle Haggard, and Bill Monroe. Whether it was country, bluegrass, Western, or Appalachian music, she could not get enough of it. Most of all, she loved Johnny cash music.

I was in no position to tell my first girlfriend that I hated the music that she listened to. At first, I pretended to like Johnny cash music just to humor her, but soon it started to grow on me. I guess that, up to that point, I’d never given it a chance. I associated it with my dad, and I took it as a given that anything that my dad would listen to had to be awful. But honestly, once I started listening to the music of the man in black, it blew my mind. I had never heard anything like it.

I got my heart broken by that girl, and it was a long time before I could listen to anything that she had played for me. After long enough though, I was drawn back to the music of Johnny Cash. I have been listening to Johnny cash music ever since. To tell you the truth, it is almost always on my play list. Although I don’t listen to it every day, barely a week goes by that a cd of Johnny cash music can’t be heard through my window.

I love fancy dress parties. They give me a chance to express myself and everyone is very competitive and wants to have the best of the fancy dress costumes. The only thing I don’t like is if someone turns up wearing their street clothes. It’s like saying it doesn’t apply to them, they are above such things and are important people who are too busy to bother with such trifles. It really annoys me when everyone else has put in the effort.

The best party I ever went to was a science fiction themed party. People really went to town, with mostly hand made fancy dress costumes that were completely bizarre. It was like a convention of aliens or that scene in Star Wars when they’re all sitting in the alien’s bar.“We all trooped in to the pub before going to the party and got a stunned reaction.” I have a friend who has one leg and he turned up in a costume that had four arms. No other fancy dress costumes could beat that! Best of all, he had gone to the party on the bus. We all trooped in to the pub before going to the party and got a stunned reaction. We were a bit of a fire hazard, having used so much hair spray trying to style our hair into wacky styles.

The most popular themed party at the moment seems to be pirates. This is because of the popular Pirates of the Caribbean movies. It’s a great excuse to wave a cutlass around and have a stuffed parrot glued to your shoulder. Men doing their Johnny Depp impressions in their fancy dress costumes can say the most outrageous things because they’re in character. That’s the terrific thing about fancy dress costumes, you can say and do things you wouldn’t dream of ordinarily. It’s like those old movies with the set piece of a masked ball. There is intrigue in spades because we are led to believe no one is recognized behind their flimsy mask!

I prefer more inventive fancy dress than the tired old subjects. It doesn’t take much imagination to throw a doctors and nurses or a cowboys and Indians party. There’s a good episode of Frasier in which Frasier hosts a party at which the guests are invited to come in the guise of their hero. He of course comes dressed as Sigmund Freud and is disgusted at Roz’s choice of Wonder Woman. I’ve thought about throwing a similar bash myself. It would certainly make for some bizarre fancy dress costumes. My hero however is Mahatma Gandhi, and I don’t really want to carry trays of nibbles round, wearing my loin cloth and wire rimmed glasses. My husband’s hero is Gandalf, the Wizard from Lord of the Rings. At least we’d have fireworks!

Who doesn’t have a coffee lover in their circle of friends? If you’re looking for a gift for the coffee afficiando, look no farther! A coffee gift basket can perfectly express your appreciation and esteem. You may even learn a thing or two about this wondrous beverage. Let’s look at some of the possibilities. Your coffee connoisseur will doubtless be shocked at your astute appreciation of the art of coffee drinking.

The consummate Java imbiber is typically a strict adherent to quality, aroma, fragrance and presentation. Unlike the ordinary coffee drinker, this gourmet seeks excellence in their morning cup. With a few facts, you can make a flavorful and beautiful coffee gift basket.

It all starts with the coffee bean. The Arabica coffee bean is well established as the choice of connoisseurs. Arabica coffee beans produce the finest quality and complexity of taste. High altitude Arabica coffee beans, grown in jungle shaded conditions, are the cream of the crop.

“You may find it difficult to part with your coffee gift basket…”

Besides the quality of the coffee bean, you need to think about coffee accessories to prepare the brew. Grinders should figure prominently in the truly stunning coffee gift basket. Coffee mugs and thermoses are important too. When purchasing these items, choose the best quality you can afford. After all, a paper cup simply doesn’t cut it. Coffee is theatre!

When assembling your coffee gift basket, try to put together an ultimate coffee experience for the recipient. You’ll need, at the very least, a premium grade Arabica coffee, a suitable mug for the contents, and a grinder.

Look for coffees labeled “100% Arabica coffee”. Organically grown Arabicas are worth the extra expense. There is a significant difference in taste that won’t be wasted on the coffee connoisseurs.

Coffee mugs can qualify as a hobby for the true coffee lover. Look in small shops featuring local artist’s ceramic works. You’ll surely find a nice selection of unique mugs.

Grinders are important to the gourmet coffee gift basket idea. Once coffee is ground, it begins to lose both flavor and aroma, so you’ll brew a superior cup by grinding your beans just before making a pot.

Coffee syrups, such as the famous Torani line, come in some thirty different flavors and will appeal to every dyed-in-the-wool coffee lover. Coffee syrups can be used to bring a distinctive note to an otherwise ordinary cup of coffee. The nostalgic and attractive labels on these syrups give a boost to your coffee gift basket presentation.

“Coffee-of-the-month” clubs abound on the net, and make an excellent year-round gift. This gives your Java lover access to different blends they may have never tasted.

You might also consider adding a thermos to your coffee gift basket. After the coffee is brewed, a good thermos preserves aroma and fragrance for later enjoyment. Choose a high quality thermos to make your coffee drinker’s dream come true.

You may find it difficult to part with your coffee gift basket. Then you’ll need to make your own.
